17 National Debt Statistics Which Prove That We Have Sold Our Children Into Debt Slavery

Sad to say, perhaps one of the biggest, and most under-reported stories of this year has been how we as the United States has dug itself deeper into debt, and marched that much closer toward the precipice of certain financial collapse.

TheEconomicCollapseBlog , perhaps one of the best blogs on this topic, has a sobering article regarding this very issue, entitled: 17 National Debt Statistics Which Prove That We Have Sold Our Children And Grandchildren Into Perpetual Debt Slavery.

The top 5 of these 17:

#1 As of December 28th, the U.S. national debt was $13,877,230,355,933.00.
#2 If the federal government began right at this moment to repay the U.S. national debt at a rate of one dollar per second, it would take over 440,000 years to pay off the national debt.
#3 If the federal government began repaying the national debt at a rate of $10 million dollars a day it would take approximately 3,800 years to pay off the national debt.
#4 Today, the U.S. national debt is increasing by roughly 4 billion dollars every single day.
#5 The U.S. government is borrowing approximately 2.63 million more dollars every single minutes.
Frankly, I wish every senator, congressman, mayor, governor and other polician in this country could read this article. Then again, even if they read it, the skeptic in me wonders how many of them would really care anyway. If our national leaders really cared, they simply wouldn't have allowed our national debt to continue to mushroom to the near-disatrous proportions it is at now.

But for any of my readers who care, I provide this article for you to consider:

From The Economic Collapse Blog:

17 National Debt Statistics Which Prove That We Have Sold Our Children And Grandchildren Into Perpetual Debt Slavery

What we have done to future generations over the past 30 years is absolutely criminal.  30 years ago the U.S. national debt was a bit under one trillion dollars, and at that time it was considered a huge national crisis.  Today, the national debt is 14 times larger and the years ahead look absolutely apocalyptic at this point.  We have literally sold our children and our grandchildren into perpetual debt slavery.  We have accumulated the biggest mountain of debt in the history of the world, and our children and our grandchildren will be burdened with it for the rest of their lives.  All of our politicians keep talking about how it is vitally important that we do something about all of this debt "soon", but they just can't seem to stop wildly spending our money.  They keep telling us that now is not the time for deficit reduction because it would harm "the economic recovery", but the "right time" for deficit reduction never seems to come along.  The national debt statistics in this article are meant to shock you.  Hopefully they will shock you enough to actually take action.  Up to this point, the vast majority of Americans have been extremely apathetic about the horrific crime that we are committing against future generations.

How would you feel if you found out one day that your parents had run up a million dollars in debt that now you were obligated to pay off?

Would you be absolutely furious?

Billboard campaign claims Jesus will return in May

Well, here we go again. The date-setters and/or false-prophets are at it again.

Let me just say this...I don't know when Jesus is coming back, but I can say for sure I know when he's NOT coming back: May 21, 2011. Why do I say that? Because the bible tells us plainly "no man knows the day nor the hour" (Matt 25:13, Mk 13:32.).Yet we have a group today that is claiming exactly that -- that they know the day of the Lord's return, which they say will be May 21, 2011.

Not surprisingly, this group is affiliated with Family Radio, which is headed by Harold Camping. To call Harold Camping a false teacher would be to be an understatement. And yes, he's predicted dates of the Lord's coming before, and those dates have proven false. Why this man has even a shred of credibility, and still has people following him in his "ministry", is beyond me.

I wont even bother to get into the many false teachings of Harold Camping here. Being Pentecostal myself, I find his doctrine repugnant for not only being anti-Pentecostal and anti- speaking-in-tongues, but for spreading a variety of other bizarre and unbiblical doctrines, too many for me to even get into here.
Any of you who are curious can do a simple Google search, where they can find links such as these below:

Truly this man is a wolf in sheep's clothing, and I feel bad for all those deceived people following him. After all, the Lord makes it clear that if the blind lead the blind, they will all fall into the same ditch (Matt 15:13-14).

Who knows? Maybe I'll give Family Radio a call on May 22, 2011, and see what they have to say for themselves after this, their latest false prophecy/prediction, fails again.

From ajc.com:

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Save the date: Jesus is coming on May 21, 2011.

At least, that's according to organizers of a billboard campaign slated to hit metro Atlanta next week. Allison Warden of Raleigh, N.C.-based WeCanKnow.com said the Christian Web site plans to place 50 billboards in the metro area proclaiming the rapture and Jesus' imminent return, based on analysis of Scripture and biblical genealogy.

"The Bible teaches that Christ is returning on May 21 and we want to encourage people to go to Scripture and investigate for themselves," said Warden, who insists the Christimas-timed campaign is not a gimmick. "All information in the Bible points to this date. God is going to be saving people right up until the last moment."

The billboards, which are up already in  places like Nashville, Detroit and Omaha, Neb., show three wise men on camels and the star of Bethlehem with the message, "He is coming again."
