Anglican Blindness on the Gay Issue
So this story hits the news. The Rev. Bonnie Perry and the Very Rev. Robert Taylor (pictured) are 2 openly gay ministers among 5 candidates running for bishop of Seattle. Some in the Anglican church are split over the issue because the Anglican Communion frowns upon the idea of openly gay ministers becoming bishops.
OK.So let me get this straight (pardon the pun): They have no issue with someone being a gay minister per se, just being a gay bishop. But if homosexuality is wrong for bishops, why is it ok for regular ministers? I thought sin was sin, period. So with them, you can pastor a church and have a same-sex lover, and its not an issue; just dont try to run for bishop - that'll be a problem. Is this blindness, hypocrisy, or both?
Is it something in the water, or what? This is just craziness. It's like I'm surrounded by a cloud of amorality and spiritual blindness. I guess it's just John 3:19 come to life - "....this is the condemnation, light has come into the world, but men love darkness rather than light"
Lord help us.
