"Prophet" predicts disaster will prevent Obama from taking office

Photo: LA Times, Leland Freeborn, "Prophet of Parowan"

Is this man a false prophet? Well, lets just say I'm skeptical. But Leland Freeborn, a so-called prophet from Parowan, Utah has gone on record as "prophesying that President-elect Obama will not take office next month. (Freeborn is a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Although he was excommunicated by the church years ago, he still considers himself Mormon.)

His words:

"I think that you should hear what my opinion about the Obama election is: that he will not be the next president. I said on my home page in August that if he lost to expect to see the 'riots' that 2 Peter 2:13 tells us about. He didn't lose. But the story is not finished yet. I still think they may begin the riots before Christmas 2008, as I said."

These riots, according to his prophecy, will encourage the "old, hard-line Soviet guard" to seize the moment and rain down nukes on the United States, killing at least 100 million of us.

To say I'm skeptical would be an understatement, but after January 20th, 2009 we can put him to the test as given to us in the bible:

21And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
22When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. (Deut 18;21-22)

And let's also keep in mind Jesus' words in Matthew 24:11 " 11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many."

I'll just go on record right now as saying I do not consider this man a prophet of God, and I do not expect his propecy to come true. So I fully expect that in about 6 weeks we can officially add Leland Freeborn to the list of false prophets we should keep an eye on.

What would Russia gain by attacking The US? Oil prices have dropped to a third of what they were a year ago. The Russian economy is heavily dependent upon oil exports. Russia's economy is dependent upon the export of raw materials and the import of finished products. War with the United States would leave them much weaker.
