He Cant Be Serious, can he?

Insane. Breathtaking. I cant even think of enough words to describe it. The president pushes this insane amnesty bill and now he want to lash out at those who oppose it? He says those who criticize the bill "dont want to do what's right for America"??!!

Yes I understand that deporting 12-20 million people is practically impossible. But what message does it send when we make them legal residents and then citizens? Well, it sends the message that our immigration laws dont matter. And that bad behavior/lawbreaking will eventually be rewarded. It also sends a message to others all over the world that if you want to come to the US illegally, just do it, wait a few years, and you'll get ammnesty too.

Frankly this bill is an insult to the American people in so many ways its not even funny. I'm reminded of the expression "Dont pee on my leg and tell me its raining". But thats exactly what this govenment is doing to all of us. They dont want to talk about the unspoken realities behind this bill, and behind the amnesy/open borders movent in particular. They dont like to mention that the Democrats love it because they know these millions of people will eventually vote for the Democrats more than republicans, and that could tip the balance in presidential elections for decades to come. And even Republicans who dont like the idea on principle, feel like they have to support the bill or be labeled anti-Hispanic; if the Democrats stick the "anti-Hispanic" label on them, it could cost them millions of votes and put Washington in Democratic hands for generations to come. So rather than do whats right, they do whats politically expedient.

The president and others claim this bill has security provisions that will help protect our border in the future. I guess they thing we're too dumb to realize that there already are existing laws now that , if enforced, would protect our border. We're the only country on earth that would allow 10,000+ illegals a day to cross its border and then one day reward them with a "path to citizenship".

Still, as much as I rant and rave about this (and I could really rant on this a lot more) I know this is just another step to the inevitable:
The North American Union. It's coming. The elites in North America know this. Too bad most Americans still dont have a clue about what the North American Union even is . By the time they do, it will be too late. Frankly, its already too late.

News Article... 5-29-07

Opponents of the controversial immigration deal forged by the White House and a bipartisan group of senators in private meetings "don't want to do what's right for America," President Bush said in a speech today.

"The fundamental question is, will elected officials have the courage necessary to put a comprehensive immigration plan in place," Bush told students and instructors at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga.

The president argued the proposal, which offers a path to citizenship for the more than 12 million illegal immigrants, will make "it more likely we can enforce our border—and at the same time uphold the great immigrant tradition of the United States of America." ....

Carter Bashes Bush. Is He Serious??

This story broke a few days ago and is still in the news. I was incredulous when I saw it and now I feel compelled to make some kind of comment.

Carter recently went out of his way to bash the Bush administration. According to the AP:

"I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history," Carter told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in a story that appeared in the newspaper's Saturday editions. "The overt reversal of America's basic values as expressed by previous administrations, including those of George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon and others, has been the most disturbing to me."

Now of all the people in the world to criticize Bush or any other president, Jimmy Carter should be the last person to open his mouth. I guess people have short memories nowadays, but in my mind Jimmy Carter will always be the worst in American history. Maybe he knows that many people have given him that "worst president" label, so he's using Bush's difficulties now to try to put that label on someone else instead of himself.

For those who dont know, or forgot, just how bad Jimmy Carter's presidency was, maybe reading this will help: Ben Johnson lays it out well in his article: "A Failed Former President"

Meanwhile, with all the nasty, bitter comments this man has made since he left office, Carter wins the "worst ex-President" title hands down, too.

The Slow Death of The Republican Party

I'm not a Republican, and never will be. But I am an independent conservative. And like most social conservatives, I've always looked at the Republicans as the party that represents conservatism on a national level. Obviously that is changing. And the mere fact that Rudolph Giuliani is the clear front-runner in the 2008 presidential race is very telling. It's indicative of a bigger problem that conservatives/Republicans will face in the future.

Not only has the Democratic party been shifting from the left to the far left, but the Republicans have been gradually shifing leftward also, in an attempt to seem "moderate" and appeal to the political center. In the process they are compromising like never before. Guiliani, for example, is pro "gay rights", and "pro-choice on the abortion issue.

In his own words: “I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights,” Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded. Source: CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999

The man doesnt even oppose partial birth abortion! A man like this wouldn't even have had a snowball's chance in hell even 15-20 years ago int the Republican party; now he's their frontrunner. Personally I feel like if the Republican candidate is going to be, in effect, a conservative Democrat in his positions, why even bother voting? In the future I expect more liberal Republicans like this to take over top leadership of the party over time.

Condolezza Rice speaking approvingly of "gay" partnerships was disturbing enough. Mitt Romney's wife giving money to an abortion rights group was just as disturbing, but not surprising I guess. The Rebublicans are sensing a more liberal shift in society as a whole, so I guess they feel the only way to win elections now is to compromise. But in the process they're losing their identity, and selling their soul for votes.

True conservatism in the party is dying before our eyes. The long term social implications for this country are sobering and disturbing. Ronald Reagan must be rolling in his grave.
